One year ago today Annabelle, Oliver and I came inside from playing outside in the snow, after one of our few snowstorms of the season. Adam was at work.
As I made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches at the kitchen counter, my phone rang. It was our adoption agency, and though busy at the moment, I answered because I'd been waiting for a return call just to touch base as we hadn't spoken with our Program Manager for a couple months. She made small talk, asked how we were doing, as I did her, and then she said,"Well I'm actually calling because I have some news for you."
My heart started pounding....what news?
"I have a referral for you."
What?! Already? We'd only waited 6 months and expected a year long wait for our referral of a boy or girl from South Korea. We had been told referrals were coming in faster, but I didn't expect it in the least.
"Its an adorable little ..... boy. He is 6 months old and has the sweetest face."
Shock. What?! Really? A boy. We have a son? And he's so little.
She continued on telling me about him and my mind was spinning. Thankfully the kids were happily eating and we could chat for a bit. She had photos to email us. She said I shouldn't open them until Adam could see them too. Thankfully she thought to say that, because I was totally ready to click "OPEN" on the email.
Well, I called him at work and shared the news.
Adam was so excited. Overyjoyed. No worry, no questions. Just excitement. It was a sacred moment we will always share and I will never forget. Let's just say there were tears. I'll never forget him saying, "That's our son."
Bless his heart, he got out of work early and rushed home.
We opened the 4 photos of our son, 2 as a newborn, 2 at 5 months old at our computer. He was smiling at us in one of the photos, and life as we know it changed that day.
There he was, our precious boy.Our hearts swelled, in awe of his cuteness, and our immediate love for him, mixed with surprise of what had just occurred, as any parent feels upon seeing their child for the first time.
March 1st will always be special to us, because its the day we learned of our third child, our Benjamin Tae-Ju.

Dear Benjamin Tae-Ju,
Mommy and Daddy love you. So does Annabelle and Oliver. We miss you Buddy, more than we can express. You are a part of each of us and we hope you already feel in your heart that we are a part of you. Its a special day today, and we carry you in our hearts.
Can't wait to meet you, to hold you, to show you how much we love you.
